Killer Beats - Death by Music

Don't stop till you get enough, POP

December 13th 2006 09:04

After the recent Robbie Williams fever, it got me thinking how many popcorns, I mean pop icons there are out there. But for now I will just choose five. I feel sorry for these corns, as they constantly have to re-invent themselves with competition like Hilary Duff and Paris Hilton cutting their grass all the time.

Robbie Williams
Take That, certainly probably is now that Robbie is five million times more famous than being a part of that boy band. I saw him interviewed a while back and like so many, “has always loved to sing”.

Mariah Carey
I remember during my youth and by that I mean, early childhood quite liking the notion of a Hero, being there beside my heart. After her recent emancipation or is that reinvention? Now Mimi, is more than a pop icon, she is a Goddess.

Madonna
Now she is a very cool lady. I have a lot of r-e-s-p-e-ct for her. She has journeyed through quite a few decades and restyling of her image. My personal favourite was theVogue season. Also, there is nothing like a good old pelvic thrust, to put you through the charts again.

Justin Timberlake
Another ex-boy band member, maybe there is some politics in boy bands the public are not told about? I suppose breaking free is a desirable trait isn’t it. When an independent move like starting a solo career is announced, or it could be because he is bringing Sexy Back. It’s a huge responsibility nonetheless, I’m just not sure would suit Elton John.

Kylie Minogue
She is my favourite, as she is Australian. No seriously, she has a very likeable screen presence and has tested her versatility as a musician. Totally by accident of course, I was stuck watching rage one sleepless night and it was all about Miss Minogue. I have to say I was impressed to a point where now I recall purchasing one of her cd’s. If she managed to penetrate the pop snob that I am, she mustn’t be all bad. Who can forget the effort her sister has gone to look like her? She must be pretty amazing to warrant a duplicate.

Do you like Pop and why? Is there a favourite solo artist you absolutely love? Did anyone go to Robbie? Tell me all the goss!

Hi Whatever,

I like dance, pop, r&B and hip hop. My faves right now are Akon, Eminmem, Cascada, Mariah Carey, and Justin Timberlake.

Its funny but Robbie Robertson is not well known in North America. The only song we might know was a bit controversial becasue the video showed a dancer whose skin and muscles were stripped off down to the bone. So people were shocked by it.
